Everything you need to know to feel confident, relaxed, and radiant in front of the camera.
Maternity photos are about more than capturing your baby bump—they're a celebration of your strength, your beauty, and this incredibly meaningful chapter of your life. Whether it’s your first pregnancy or your third, preparing well for your session makes all the difference in how you feel (and how your photos turn out!).
Here’s how to get ready:
1. Timing Is Everything
The best time for a maternity session is between 26–34 weeks. Your bump is beautifully round, but you're still comfortable enough to move with ease. Every pregnancy is unique, so we can adjust based on how you're feeling.
2. Choose Outfits That Elevate Your Style
I offer a curated client wardrobe with gowns and pieces designed to flatter your bump and photograph beautifully. You’re also welcome to bring your own looks—think timeless silhouettes, soft fabrics, and neutral or earthy tones for a cohesive, editorial feel. And don’t forget your partner or family’s outfits if they’ll be joining!
3. Hair & Makeup Matter
Professional hair and makeup aren’t just a treat—they help you feel polished and photo-ready. Many of my sessions include hair and makeup as part of the experience so you can show up and relax. Think soft glam, glowing skin, and enhanced (not heavy) features.
4. Plan to Arrive Early & Relaxed
We’ll take our time. You’ll never be rushed. Arriving about 15–20 minutes early ensures you have time to settle in, review wardrobe options, and start the session feeling calm and confident.
5. Bring Sentimental Touches (If You’d Like)
Some clients like to include baby’s ultrasound photo, tiny shoes, or heirloom pieces. These can add a sweet, personal touch without taking away from the overall timeless aesthetic.
Final Thoughts:
This isn’t about posing perfectly—it’s about celebrating you. You’re doing something extraordinary, and my job is to help you see just how beautiful that looks.
